A Shout Out to Iowa City/Diocese of Davenport, IA!

A great big THANKS to all the good folks of the Diocese of Davenport who gathered on Friday (August 6, 2010) at St. Patrick’s in Iowa City to explore The Bible Blueprint! What a wonderful day! I enjoyed meeting and speaking with so many of you on that day as we explored how to “Listen to Him” through Sacred Scripture and how to invite others to deepen their relationship with God through Scripture.

Before I share some pics, I wanted to share a resource. One of the discussions that came up centered around dealing with fundamentalists. I told folks about a good pamphlet written by the late great Fr. Eugene LaVerdiere. Here’s a link to it: Fundamentalism-A Pastoral Concern.

Here’s a pic of the beautiful parish that hosted our event. After a tornado destroyed the original church in 2006, this amazing facility was built in 2009. It is georgeous!

I never got around to taking a pic the day of the presentation but here I am on location the very next day.

On our way to St. Louis for my presentations there on Monday, we stopped in Springfield, IL, to visit my brother Tom (da bishop) as well as my brother John and his wife Michelle who came down for the weekend. Among the many nice things we did was visiting the Abraham Lincoln Museum. Amazing! Here I am with my wife and the Lincoln family in front of the White House.
