40/40 – Lenten Activities: Walk the Lenten Path

Lent is right around the corner (Feb. 22, 2012)! With that in mind, I’m happy to share with you one of a number of NEW activities for my 40 Ideas for 40 Days of Lent which I will be unveiling soon!

This idea comes from Liz who blogs at Holy Family Classical Academy. The activity is called Walk the Lenten Path.

Liz has created a Lenten calendar that helps children walk through the season of Lent day by day.  She has provided a color pdf or a black & white one so that children can color it in on their own. Then, they can countdown the days of Lent by putting a sticker on that day’s square each morning. You might consider using different color stickers to indicate a specific lenten practice they will do that day: prayer, fasting, almsgiving, etc.

Here are the PDFs:

Thanks, Liz, for sharing this with us!

Are you going to have a calendar like last year? I loved that!

This is the one I loved:

When I click on the link for the Lenten Path Countdown it redirects me to an error page. Has anyone else mentioned something? Thank you.

When I clicked on the links listed under “Here’s the PDF’s” It brought me to a Google Docs sight and asked me to sign in and wouldn’t bring up the PDFs. Joana, click on the image of the countdown path in the post and it will open up the Color file, or at least that worked for me. Not sure how to get a B&W version, but color printed in gray-scale is better than nothing.

    Hi Joe,
I just had the pleasure of hearing you speak at our parish this evening. Thank you for the inspiration and food for our thoughts, as well as for our souls. Your talk on our Catholic Identity brought to light for me the importance of being a catechist. In our society many parents don’t seem to see the importance of taking their children to church, however, they are bringing their children to Faith Formation classes…so what an opportunity we have to share our faith with these children! I plan to use some of the ideas that we discussed tonight, bringing attention to them made me see them as so much more important to children who may not have been ‘marinaded’ in the Catholic Faith like many of catechists were. Thank you.
