Prayer Intentions

One of the things that I plan to do with my students this year is, as soon as they enter the room, to sit down and write down their prayer intention for that day/week. I will encourage them to either give thanks for something or to pray for someone in need or for a need of their own. Of course you can just have them write them down on a piece of scrap paper but what’s the fun in that when you can provide little sheets of paper that say, “Lord God, today I pray…”

Here is a PDF template of these little sheets that you can make copies of and then cut.

  1. I really appreciate how you provide us with the examples you refer to! Thank you for taking the time to help us on our catechist journey. I was wondering if you plan to read your class intentions aloud or keep them private?

    • Hi Tracy and you’re very welcome!

Yes, I plan to have them read their intentions aloud as I have them pass a candle (battery operated) from one to another.

  2. Joe,
I love, love, LOVE this idea! I can’t wait to incorporate it into my weekly get-togethers with my 5th grade PSR class. I always find at least one – but usually many – ideas on your blog. I always come away with something I can use, or at the very least, something to think about. Thank you for sharing your talents with all of us and the families we serve!
