The General Directory for Catechesis reminds us that “No methodology, no matter how well tested, can dispense with the person of the catechist in every phase of the catechetical process.” (156) To that end, the Church needs to ensure that catechists are well-prepared and formed to effectively carry out their ministry. In fact, the Church teaches us that catechist formation must be a priority and that such formation must cover three areas: being, knowing, and doing. In this highly interactive and unique Webinar, master catechist Joe Paprocki will lead catechists through six formation exercises designed to help them grow in these three critical areas:

  • Being: formation that helps catechists discover their vocation and mature as a person, a believer, and a disciple of Jesus.
  • Knowing: formation that helps catechists embrace their faith and acquire sufficient knowledge of the Catholic Tradition they are called to transmit.
  • Doing: formation that helps catechists more effectively proclaim the message of the Gospel and actively engage participants.

Joe Paprocki is an author, a speaker, and a catechist in the Archdiocese of Chicago with over 30 years of experience in pastoral ministry. Joe, national consultant for faith formation at Loyola Press, has written numerous books, including the best-selling The Catechist’s Toolbox and A Well-Built Faith. He is also the host of the blog Catechist’s Journey.

  1. I have registered for the August 22nd webinar and am wondering if you will be providing a note taking aid as you have for past webinars. I find them very helpful and it makes my participation a lot easier. Thanks for offering these webinars. I find them extremely helpful and really learn a lot from your experiences.
    Thanks,
    Cathy

  2. Hi Joe,
We are offering this webinar as enrichment for our catechists and to allow for some fellowship beforehand, we want to gather as a group and show it on our large screen. Is it permissible to show this for a group of people to watch (about 20 – 30, as opposed to each individual viewing separately?

    Thanks!
    Janie

  3. Hi Joe,

Your webinars have always been inspiring and this year I too wanted to offer as Janie stated back on August 6, showing it on a large screen for those who missed it. Our gathering is this Thursday, Aug 29. Could you please guide me on how to get access to the webinar – BKD?

    Yours,
    Marco

    • Thanks, Marco. I’m not sure yet when the recording will be ready. It might very well be ready by Thursday in which case you will find it right here on my blog. Stay tuned.
