Ten Commandments

It feels as though I have not taught my 4th graders for a few weeks now, because of guest speakers and Presidents’ Days, etc. Tonight, that all changes as I get back to the basics with my li’l ones and focus on the Ten Commandments one last time!

As you may recall, back in January, we made a DVD of the kids doing mini-presentations on the Ten Commandments. For tonight’s class, I put together the following worksheet which invites them to match the description of each mini-presentation to the Commandment it describes. This will serve as the basis for our discussion tonight, as we review all Ten Commandments.

Finally, we’ll participate in a Jeopardy-like review game on the Ten Commandments. Some of you may recall that I found this easy-to-use Jeopardy program online a few years ago. It basically uses PowerPoint to create the game which I then project using an LCD projector and my laptop…it’s a lot of fun!

I plan to conclude the evening by leading them in a guided reflection about their experience with the Sacrament of Reconciliation last week. I’ll simply invite them to go back into their memory and recall their experience of the Sacrament last week but to picture Jesus there with them and to talk to him about it.
