A Lenten Family Day

Cyndi from Louisville, KY, shares the following. Great job, Cyndi!

Hi Joe

Just wanted to share how our Sunday Religious Program has used one of your 40 ideas for Lent.

We took the Declaration of Dependence you proposed for the class and expanded it to be for the entire program and all the families.

At our Lenten Family Day we baked Pretzels (also one of your ideas) and while the pretzels were baking every person there was invited to put their thumbprint on a framed art canvas that I created (see pictures) and then one person from the family was asked to sign the bottom of Our Lenten Declaration of Dependence.

I have attached that canvas to a wooden cross that will be on display during our Sunday Religious Education sessions during lent . We will gather as families before the children go off to the classes and each family will be invited to fill out a paper that asks these two questions

1. Where/How did you see your dependence on God this past week?

2. What do you need to place your dependence on God this week?

Their completed (and anonymous) papers will be placed at the foot of the cross each week that I will have on display.

Thanks for all your wonderful ideas!

Cyndi M.
