Tania’s grandmother was religious in a private way, mostly concerned that Tania learn how to pray. When Grandma died, Tania inherited her prayer book of the saints. The lipstick marks on all the pictures told a story of great love and devotion.
When my mom passed away, my siblings asked me if there was anything of hers that I would like to have. Instantly, I knew that I wanted her Madonna and Child statue. This porcelain figure came through the years of raising eight kids, sitting on a shelf at the bottom of the stairs, and never once was chipped. I consider its survival a small miracle.
