Pop-Up Catechesis: The Precepts of the Church

Pop-Up Catechesis with Joe Paprocki

I recall when taking courses as an undergraduate, it was common to ask professors about the syllabus: “Are all these required reading?” “How long does the final paper need to be?” Such questions are intended to identify the bare minimum required for us to pass the course. Obviously, by doing the bare minimum, one would usually end up with a C for the course, which means “satisfactory.” Even in relationships, we sometimes find ourselves saying to another, “Well, at the very least, you could…” as we indicate what kind of behavior would be acceptable but not necessarily laudable. When it comes to our practice of the Catholic faith, we have a set of precepts that identify for us the minimum expectations of being Catholic. Following the Precepts of the Catholic Church is nothing to brag about; they are simply a benchmark to indicate behaviors expected of a practicing Catholic. In this episode of Pop-Up Catechesis, we take a look at the Precepts of the Catholic Church.
