The other day, I posted on the parallels between coaching and serving as a catechist. That stirred up the following conversation between a DRE and one of her catechists who is indeed also a coach. Enjoy!
Hi Joe! In response to your latest Catechist’s Journey email, I asked one of my catechists if he saw a connection between coaching and being a catechist. Scott coaches basketball and then “cleans up” and comes to teach Religious Ed to our First Graders. See the attached page. He provided this for his team. Enjoy!

Subject: FW: Catechist’s JourneyHi Scott! I was reading this and thought of you. Do you see connections between coaching and being a catechist? Judy
Thanks for sharing this, Joe, and Scott, too. Scott’s quotes are fantastic! I am printing them out for my confirmation students. All of them are in sports and I think they’ll really identify with this.
What is really wonderful about Scott is that he is a “living stone” to our children here at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Scott is a member or the Knights of Columbus and is a Past Grand Knight of Father Comyns Council #9638. Scott reflects the ideal standard of what every K of C member should be.
