Exodus/Passover and the Sacraments of Initiation – Update

Here is the latest addition to my lesson for tomorrow evening on the Sacraments of Initiation and how they tie-in to the Exodus/Passover story.

I developed a chart that the young people will once again need to manipulate (I will do it as a projection but you can use it as a worksheet) to put the correct words in place to show the connection between the Sacraments of Initiation and the Exodus/Passover experience. The chart, when completed, shows the following:

The Hebrew People

The Exodus/Passover and the Sacraments of Initiation

Catholics

Egypt

Slaves to…

Sin

A lamb

Saved by the blood of…

The Lamb of God

The Red Sea

Passed through the waters of…

Baptism

A Pillar of Fire

Led by…

The Holy Spirit

Passover

Ritual celebration…

Eucharist

Here is the chart as a Word Document with the words randomly placed below and the chart above empty:

Exodus-Passover-Sacs of Initiation Comparison

Here is the chart (as a PDF) with the answers in the correct place as above:

Exodus-Passover-Sacs of Initiation Comparison – answer key

Next step: I need to put all the pieces together to form a coherent lesson…stay tuned!
