I enjoyed spending the day yesterday with about 50 “Cheeseheads” which of course is the nickname given to Green Bay Packers’ fans. As they celebrate their Superbowl victory, they were gracious enough to welcome this Chicago Bears fan into their midst for a Being, Knowing, and Doing professional development workshop. We had the most wonderful day together and talked about so many ideas and strategies for taking care of our catechists. Thanks to Gary Pokorny, the Director of Catechesis and Youth Ministry for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee for arranging this fine day! Congrats to all you Cheeseheads (but wait till next year…Da Bears will be back!) Here are some pics from our day yesterday.

A Shout Out to Peoria!

Peoria is about a 2 1/2 hour drive from the south suburbs of Chicago where I live so it was a very nice peaceful ride. A number of parishes banded together to gather over 80 catechists for a great night of enrichment that included a delicious dinner. I enjoyed the evening with you and look forward to […]

A Well-Built Faith in Green Bay, WI
I spent a wonderful Friday with 200 Administrators (Catholic school principals, DREs, Adult Faith Formation Coordinators, etc.) on the topic of my book, A Well-Built Faith. The folks there really outdid themselves, creating an environment that brought the Well-Built Faith imagery to life. Take a look at these pics! Thanks to all the good folks of the Diocese of Green Bay for a great day and God bless you in your ministry! What an amazing […]

Visiting Catechists in the Deep South
I just returned from a trip to Alabama and Georgia where I had the pleasure of speaking to/with a couple of groups of DREs and catechists about how to transform religion class into an “experience.” Greetings to all of the wonderful people I met in the Birmingham and Atlanta dioceses! Thanks for your warm southern hospitality and I wish you continued blessings in your ministry! One highlight of my trip was stopping for a bite […]
Thanks for reenergizing our ministries last week! I tried out some of the spiritual being information with our parents and it was well received. PS: There are some Bears fans out there in Wisconsin 😉
Thanks Kristen! Glad to hear it went well. So, with you, I guess its safe to say, “Go Bears!” 🙂
Joe,
This day was WONDERFUL. It’s always difficult to pry myself away from the office because I know what I will face when I return. You made “re-entry” completely worth it. Thank you so much for sharing your great ideas, your materials and your experience!
Peace and all good things,
