I received my copies of two new and important catechetical resources: the New American Bible Revised Edition (NABRE) and YOUCAT, the new Catechism for Youth.
The NABRE includes a newly revised translation of the entire Old Testament (including the Book of Psalms) along with the 1986 edition of the New Testament.
YOUCAT is a catechism especially designed for young people, offering a contemporary explanation of the Catholic faith, with a foreward by Pope Benedict XVI.
Happy Easter!!!
Where can I buy the YouCat? I went to the website above and I can’t find a place to purchase it. I wouldn’t mind being able to buy both the YOUCAT and the NABRE Bible at the same place to hopefully save on shipping.
Thanks!
Hi Jenn, in that case, I recommend Amazon.
YOUCAT: http://www.amazon.com/Youcat-Cardinal-Christoph-Schonborn-editor/dp/1586175165/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1303758734&sr=1-1
NABRE: http://www.amazon.com/New-American-Bible-Revised-Paperbound/dp/1935302590/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1303758790&sr=1-1
Just got my copies also. I did not get the same version of the NABRE. The print in my version is way too small. Please let me know how you like the one you have. I may order that one. Can’t wait to really look thru YouCat but with classes winding down, First Communion, our New Life Crisis Pregnancy Auction, it could be awhile. Looking forward to what you have to say about both and also your upcoming webinar regarding your new book!!!
Linda
Hi Linda. My first glance at YOUCAT is that it looks like a good resource – nice friendly format, lots of information, engaging. I’ve yet to delve into the nuts and bolts of it however I wasn’t thrilled with how they categorized the books of the Bible (lumped the Pentateuch in with the Historical books and included Revelation as one of the catholic letters) I’ve yet to explore the NABRE as far as translation goes (and I’m no expert there anyway) however the print is fine for me in the edition I purchased. I’ll get around to adding some more detailed thoughts but I invite others to chime in with their opinions and expertise on these resources.
Thanks Joe! Why didn’t I think of Amazon! Clearly it is the end of the year…
