North Woods Catechesis

I enjoyed the last couple of days in Northern Wisconsin with 100 catechetical leaders looking at how we proclaim the story of salvation through a Catholic lens. We had a wonderful time together and I hopefully set the stage for my long-time friend and colleague, Carole Eipers, to take over and carry the gathering through tomorrow. The event was organized by the Wisconsin Directors of Religious Education Federation (WDREF).

I had the pleasure of seeing Sr. Kieran Sawyer, who made it possible for me to become a published author almost 20 years ago! Sr. Kieran is legendary in the area of adolescent catechesis and her book Confirming Faith has touched numerous lives. Back in the mid-1990s, she was the executive editor of an adolescent catechesis series published by Ave Maria Press for which I was invited to be part of the writing team. I felt so privileged to work with her and to have my name associated with her. After all these years, she hasn’t lost a step! Check out her L.I.F.E. website.
