Adult Faith Formation at Christ the King Parish, Chicago

I’m excited and pleased to announce that this year, I will be working with the pastoral staff at Christ the King Parish in Chicago, IL, to focus on adult faith formation.

The parish is led by Fr. Larry Sullivan, who was a student at Quigley Seminary South High School when I taught there from 1981–90, so I’ve known Fr. Larry for a long time and am thrilled to be collaborating with him. He and his staff are eager and enthusiastic about devoting new energy and attention to adult faith formation, and I will be blogging about our endeavors throughout the coming year. This is in addition to the work I will be doing with the fifth grade religious education class at St. Cajetan Parish, which I will also blog about through the year.

Pray that the Holy Spirit guides and inspires our efforts that we might share with you some strategies for successfully engaging adults in faith formation.

Here I am meeting the staff of Christ the King Parish: Sue Clark (Parish Secretary); Joe P.; Fr. Larry Sullivan (Pastor); Deacon Dominic Clemente (Transitional Deacon); Maura Clarke Saas (Alumni Director); Fr. Edgar Rodriguez (Associate Pastor); seated: Fr. Mike Adams (retired priest in residence).

  1. Joe,
Really looking forward to your blog on adult faith formation! Any ideas/insights you can provide are appreciated as our parish is trying to increase participation in adult faith formation outside of the typical parent meetings/workshops. Thanks for blessing us with your experiences!

    • Thanks Lisa. Yes, we’ll be trying some new ideas beyond the parent meetings, etc. so do stay tuned!
