Bringing an Ignatian Flavor to V Encuentro

V Encuentro

It is no secret that the largest growing demographic in the U.S. Church is our Latino/Hispanic brothers and sisters. In order to better serve the needs of this vital and fast-growing segment of our Church family, the U.S. Bishops occasionally convene a process known as Encuentro—a multi-year process of ecclesial reflection and action that invites all Catholics in the United States to intense missionary activity, consultation, leadership development, and identification of best ministerial practices in the spirit of the New Evangelization. The first Encuentro took place in 1972.

Loyola Press is proudly serving as a padrino (sponsor) of V Encuentro and wasted no time in adding an Ignatian “flavor” to the process by providing a video experience of the daily Examen. The Examen is a prayer tool developed by St. Ignatius that you can use regularly as a catechist to help those you teach to recognize and find God in all things, especially in the experiences of daily living. Below are the English and Spanish versions of “The Daily Examen for Missionary Disciples” prepared for all those who participate in the V Encuentro process and for anyone who wishes to reflect on the daily call to live as a missionary disciple of Jesus.
