Last night was the successful premiere of the Ten Commandments DVD that my 4th graders filmed over the past few weeks! It opened to an audience of about 8-9 parents who visited my classroom as part of the Open House. The parents enjoyed watching their little stars on the big screen and the kids were tickled to see themselves. All in all, it was very successful. I made a copy of the DVD for each family so that they could watch it in its entirety (25 mins) at home. I enjoyed meeting the parents and took the opportunity to tell them how blessed and privileged I am to be able to serve as a catechist for their children. The kids were very excited to have their parents present.
Now that all the “dust” is settling from this video extravaganza, next week I need to get back to basics and see how many students can actually name all Ten Commandments!
Thank God, I am in the catechism ministry, Teaching the kids about the Ten Commandments is our way to heaven. Awesome.
Then we’re on our way! 🙂
I would be very interested to know how you used this with 8th graders! Can you share?
thanks
Maureen, when I did this with the 8th graders, I did not film. I just gave them scripts and had them study the scripts for a while with some coaching from me and then they presented to the class. For the most part it worked very well. Let me know if you have any specific questions.
Joe, you are amazing! I looked at the scripts and you did a fabulous job! Truly inspired by the Holy Spirit. I love the first one and the attraction between God and us and think I will have things written on paper that get between us and God. Maybe the young people can write the things of their lives that get in the way….that way there is no attraction of the things to God :). Thanks for sharing! May God continue to bless you in your ministry and all of us through your ministry!
Thanks so much Barb! I love how you plan to expand/adapt the activities for your own setting…very creative!
Hi Joe,
I’m interested in your 10 Commandments project – DVD
made by your students. Is it available to see on your website? Thank
you!
Kate
Hi Kate and thanks for your question. Out of respect for the young people’s privacy, I did not share that DVD on my blog. I hope you understand.
