Catechists in Action – Len Astrowski Invites 7th Graders to Pray

In this segment of Catechists in Action, 7th grade catechist Len Astrowski prepares his 7th graders for a short prayer experience in the middle of his session on the Resurrection of Jesus. Watch for the following:

  • Len invites the young people to turn to the page with the prayer
  • Len assigns roles for the prayer…this is a crucial step for catechists. Catholics pray communally which means that everyone has a part and their are various roles assigned. It is always necessary to go over the details of a liturgical prayer experience before entering into it…good job Len!
  • Len gets his volunteers (they are quick to volunteer for him because they like him so much!) and he responds with great satisfaction and appreciation when they come forward. I have no doubt the kids love that sincere affirmation he offers them.
  • The prayer proceeds and Len invites the young people to respond at the part marked ALL and then invites them to do so again in a stronger voice…again, nicely done.
