Session 5: Keeping it Simple!

Knowing that we have a fire drill scheduled for Monday evening, I need to keep my lesson plan simple! The fire drill will probably eat up 10 minutes of the schedule which, if you do the math, is nearly 15% of a 75 minute class!

With that in mind, I have a simple plan for this lesson which is to tie up some loose ends from the Learning Stations we did a few weeks ago.

  • We’ll begin with our usual opening prayer of setting up the prayer space and sharing our prayer intentions for the day.
  • The fire drill will occur 10 minutes into the session.
  • When we come back from the fire drill, I am going to spend the evening working with the Bible bookmarks (from my The Bible Blueprint book) and their Bibles, making sure that they know the various sections of the Bible. I will be using a Powerpoint presentation to highlight the 8 sections of the Bible (Pentateuch, History, Wisdom, Prophets, Gospels, Acts, Letters, and Revelation)
  • We will finish with a brief guided reflection…I plan to play half of a recorded guided reflection from the Finding God program that focuses on how God created us but did not forget us.

Even with keeping things this simple, I’ll be lucky to squeeze in the guided reflection! Wish me luck!
