It’s time to kick-off the catechetical year!

Tomorrow evening, Tuesday, August 28, 2012, I’ll be hosting a free Webinar – Teaching During a Year of Faith – to explore how we can more effectively proclaim Jesus Christ to those we are called to teach this year. Be sure to click that link above to find a Note-Taking Sheet in PDF form that you can download for the Webinar!

This evening, I’ll be attending the start-of-the-year catechist meeting at Most Holy Redeemer Parish in Evergreen Park, IL, where I will begin serving as a 6th grade catechist in just 2 weeks! I look forward to meeting my fellow 6th grade catechists and my aide. We’re in for a treat tonight as my friend and colleague from Loyola Press, Joyce Ende, will be doing an overview of the new Finding God 2013 textbooks. I promised her I will behave and not make any faces at her while she’s presenting! 🙂

Finally, a great big THANK YOU to all of you who participated in the online retreat we held here over the past month, Preparing for a Year of Faith. I was so inspired by the many thoughtful comments that participants shared! Soon, I’ll post a link that will take you to the retreat and help you navigate easily through the 4 weeks. In the meantime, here’s the video that introduced the whole concept of the online retreat.

  1. Hello and God’s blessings to you!

I am very interested in your free webinar! Is this an overall for cathechist’s..and do you require the books/materials that you currently are selling?

    Thank you!
    Therese

    • Hi Therese. We’ll be looking at a variety of teaching skills and approaches that can help catechists overall but in a special way, during the Year of Faith. No books are required to participate.

  2. terry: You will be in my prayers. We never learn enough. Eternity is the key word. I have been teaching for 46 years. I had an ex-student that became a teacher and he told me that he didn’t really learn the faith until he taught the faith. God Bless everyone’s service and for answering God’s Call!

  3. Hi Joe

Thank you so much for taking us on the catechist’s journey. It was a great experience for me. I learned a great deal from your daily teachings as well as the comments and insights provided by the other attendees. I hope you will consider doing this again in the near future. I will miss my daily dose of Catholic faith insights!

    • Karen it was a very fruitful experience and I enjoyed it thoroughly. We will indeed do things like this from time to time.
