The New Directory for Catechesis: How It Will Change the Way We Think About, Talk About, and Go About Doing Catechesis

New Directory for Catechesis Event with Joe Paprocki and Julianne Stanz (photos of the two presenters)

When it comes to catechesis, we not only pay attention to what we are proclaiming (so that it is faithful), but also how we are proclaiming (so that it is effective). When it comes to what we are proclaiming, the Church has gifted us with the Catechism of the Catholic Church. When it comes to how we are to proclaim the Good News most effectively, the Church has gifted us with the Directory for Catechesis.

The first such Directory, the General Catechetical Directory, was published in 1971. The second Directory, the General Directory for Catechesis, was published in 1997. Now, the Church has published a new Directory for Catechesis (2020) to help us proclaim the Word of God in the 21st century.

Each iteration of the Directory has had a profound impact on our way of proceeding when it comes to the task of catechizing, and this new Directory will no doubt have a significant impact on our ministry as well. To help you unpack the new Directory for Catechesis, Loyola Press invites you to save the date for an informative presentation co-hosted by Julianne Stanz, Director of Parish Life and Evangelization for the Diocese of Green Bay, WI, and yours truly.

  1. Looking forward to this. I got my copy a couple of weeks ago and I opened it up to a random page — it was about technology. That has to be a sign! 🙂

    • Hi Lorraine,

I’m not sure why you didn’t receive the registration confirmation with the link, but the recording of the presentation will be available soon.
