Enhancing Sacramental Preparation with Engaging Videos

I have long been an advocate of using engaging videos to enhance faith formation, as long as they are never used to replace the catechist. In other words, videos should always be seen as a supplement to the faith formation experience—a way of reinforcing important content visually and/or a way of telling a story that invites the viewer into a deeper experience of the theme being explored.

In my years at Loyola Press, I have been privileged to have had a hand in the development of a number of videos for sacramental preparation—in particular, First Eucharist and Reconciliation and Confirmation. Until now, those videos have been available only as a part of our God’s Gift: Eucharist and Reconciliation preparation programs or our Confirmed in the Spirit Confirmation preparation program. Now, however, I am happy to share the news that these wonderful and engaging videos can be purchased separately!

Here’s a look at what you can use to enrich your sacramental preparation.

These videos invite children and adults into conversations about their faith and are perfect for family formation sessions. “A Tour of the Church” helps viewers learn about the important people and sacred objects inside the church. “Your Role at Mass” clearly explains the elements of the Mass. “Ritual Matters” helps adults and children appreciate how rituals in everyday life connect to sacramental life.
