Today people expect the books they purchase to have “extras,” such as online activities and games. We don’t just read books anymore; we interact with them! With that in mind, Loyola Press has two new wonderful books that come with extras.
- Audacious Ignatius by Paul Mitchell, illustrated by Katie Broussard—First of all, I love this book! I love its playfulness while telling the story of St. Ignatius of Loyola so that children can come to know this great saint. After reading, enrich the experience with activities inspired by the book, including Sequence of Events, About St. Ignatius of Loyola and Me, and the Audacious Ignatius Memory Game.
- The Ball of Red String: A Guided Meditation for Children by Sr. Marlene Halpin, OP—This book is a classic! I had the pleasure of knowing the brilliant Sr. Marlene Halpin and always admired her passion for helping children (and adults) experience the nearness of God through guided meditation. The book itself is an activity, since it is a guided meditation. As if that weren’t enough, however, enrich the experience with printable activities: a coloring page and a door hanger.
Books are such a great way to engage the imaginations of children. But why stop there when you have extras available to engage them even further?
