New Roman Missal – What You Need to Know – #2

As we prepare to implement the new Roman Missal one year from now, in Advent, 2011, I am co-authoring (with D. Todd Williamson, Director of the Office for Divine Worship, Archdiocese of Chicago) a series of ten articles for Loyola Press on the new Roman Missal. These articles will provide you with what you need to know to better understand the changes when we implement them next year. I’ll point you to these articles weekly over the next 2 months as they are posted. Article 2 is now available:

New Roman Missal, Article 1: Changes Are Coming

New Roman Missal, Article 2: The Words We Use at Mass

Also, take note: I’ll be doing a Webinar titled “What Catechists Need to Know about the Roman Missal Changes” on February 9, 2011…stay tuned for details!!!

  1. Wonderful, Joe! Thanks for doing this. The webinar sounds great. Another idea for a webinar that is much needed would be on how to help children and youth understand the changes in the Mass. Very little out there so far by way of information, lesson plans or even solid age-appropriate tips!

    • Thanks, Joyce, especially for the suggestion for a webinar on helping children and youth understand the changes in the Mass. I’m thinking that this upcoming webinar for catechists will be the first step and will hopefully make us all more aware of just what we need to communicate this to children.

  2. What is the copyright on this?

Obviously if I used it, I would give the website and you wrote it.
I wanted to know if I’m allowed to post a link on my religious ed website to this, and what about making copies for those who don’t access the internet (yes there are still people out there who don’t!)?

Thanks! Your work is always great!

    • Jenn, you’re free to use it as long as you give credit as you mentioned: to Loyola Press (www.loyolapress.com), to Joe Paprocki, and to D. Todd Williamson. Glad you like it!

  3. AWesome articles Joe! Thanks for taking this on. I can give them to my
catechists over time and not overwhelm them, but yet keep them informed.
    Many thanks.

  4. Thanks for making the effort, time and wisdom to share your awesome gifts with the rest of us in regards to our new Roman Missal. No doubt that it will be a “shock and awe” for our Church here in the U.S. when implemented.

Thanks again and look forward to broadening my knowledge with your assistance.
