With All Saints Day just around the corner, now is a good opportunity to look at ideas for additional resources for teaching about the saints. Loyola Press has just put together four Saints Retreats for children, done in the style of the well-known and much loved 3-Minute Retreats. Each brief saints retreat is an opportunity to learn more about a particular saint, learn about that saint’s relationship with God, reflect on discussion questions about the saint, and enjoy a prayer in honor of the saint. The four Saints Retreats focus on St. Nicholas, St. Kateri Tekakwitha, St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, and St. Andrew. Take a look: Saints Retreats for Children. Be sure to look at lots of other saints resources as well.

Saints for the New Evangelization—Free PowerPoint Presentation
Flip through any tabloid magazine and you’ll see splashy spreads touting all the ways the rich and famous are just like us! They drink coffee. They have children. They are busy going about their lives. These magazines act like this is information we should care about, and worse, we should emulate. In our celebrity-obsessed culture, it’s not easy to remember what real role models are made of. Instead of People, we should be reading Saints. […]

Holy Saturday Retreat
For those of you involved in RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults), I don’t need to tell you what an important week this is! One of the responsibilities of the RCIA team is to facilitate a Holy Saturday retreat for the Elect (those to be baptized at the Easter Vigil). From time to time, I get e-mails from folks asking if I have any resources for such a retreat. I do indeed! My friend […]

Saints in the Classroom
My classroom is filled with statues, icons, and pictures of saints. These holy men and women who lived heroic lives of virtue and great charity constantly inspire me. I hope they inspire my students too. I am always looking for ways to help my students learn about the saints. Our school celebrates All Saints Day with a kindergarten parade. They dress up as their favorite saint or as a saint who shares their name. (The […]
Thank you for sharing these 3 minute retreats about the saints. I enjoyed them-they helped me start the day on a positive note.
Josie, you’re welcome. They’re nice, aren’t they?
Hi, to all. I am a catechist in Abu Dhabi and would like your 3 minute retreat for children. I want to download it to use for my Grade 5 student every morning during the entire lenten season.
Appreciate your help.

Hi Joe,
With the stay home mandate, our schools and catechism
has to be online. As a catechist, I have my kids complete their workbooks and continue learning their prayers- but we need help with the children’s retreat. Any retreats already on line that we can have the students watch? Any ideas?
Hi Elizabeth and thanks for your question. What grade level are the students and what is the retreat for (First Eucharist? First Reconciliation? Confirmation?) Let me know and I’ll see if I can find anything.
Where can I find a link to the 3 minute retreat with the saints for children? I would like to use them in my on line lessons during the pandemic. Thank you!
Judy, we’ve updated the link now, so you should be able to find the retreats using the link above or this: https://www.loyolapress.com/catholic-resources/saints/saints-activities/other-activities/spend-time-with-the-saints/.
