As you know by now, we will be celebrating a Year of Faith beginning this October, 2012, through November, 2013. I’m happy to announce that I will be offering 2 very important opportunities to prepare for the Year of Faith in the coming months.
- Online Summer Retreat: Preparing for a Year of Faith – Beginning Monday, July 30, 2012 (on the eve of the Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola!), I will be offering an online retreat right here on Catechist’s Journey. The free retreat is titled Preparing for a Year of Faith. Over the course of 4 weeks (July 30 through August 24), you are invited to take a few minutes each day at your convenience to “gather” here on my blog as we seek to encounter Christ and to deepen our understanding of the truths of our faith as given to us in the Catechism of the Catholic Church. We will be drawing from my book A Well-Built Faith devoting a week to each of the 4 pillars of the Catechism: the Creed, Sacraments, Morality, and Prayer. We will be reflecting on the themes and topics of our faith as a means to encountering Christ more deeply. In doing so, we will be preparing for the Year of Faith when we may be participating locally in more formal studies of our faith and the Catechism. More information about the online retreat, Preparing for a Year of Faith, will be available right here on my blog in the weeks to come.
- A Free Webinar: Teaching During a Year of Faith – On Tuesday, August 28, 2012, (7:00 pm CT), I will be offering a free Webinar – Teaching During a Year of Faith – designed for catechists to focus on our task of teaching during this extraordinary year. The focus will be on how we can more effectively teach in such a way as to foster transformation of hearts and minds and not just the passing along of information. The Webinar will focus on how to make our catechesis more evangelizing. This Webinar experience will be a great opportunity for all catechists, including those who are new to the ministry. Registration information will be available soon right here on my blog!
Please join me as, together, we attempt to spice up our faith lives so that our hearts burn within us in preparation for the Year of Faith.
These look great, Joe — I’ll definitely be participating!
For those that may be interested, every Friday until the start of the Year of Faith I will be posting suggestions on my blog for how parishes and diocese might celebrate the Year of Faith. You can access all these posts at http://www.jonathanfsullivan.com/-YearOfFaith.
Thanks Jonathan. I just heard about your Friday posts yesterday and will be taking a look and I encourage others to do so as well!
Thank you, Joe, for both the summer online retreat and the upcoming Webinar. I plan to register for both. I hope the registration will be available soon because I have received a scholarship for a study/tour in Germany and will be leaving soon.
Wanda, congrats on your scholarship and upcoming travels. The online retreat will not require registration…it will simply be taking place daily right here on my blog. The registration for the Webinar will be available some time in July through my blog and through the Loyola Press Website, http://www.loyolapress.com.
Thanks Joe!
I am on our diocesan “Year of faith’ planning committee, and this will be an excellent resource to help people prepare for and participate in the year of faith
Great, Mike. Glad I can help.
This webinar sounds very helpful & I’m thinking of gathering my catechists so we can participate as a group. Do you have an idea of the length of the webinar yet? Thanks!
Hi Michelle. It will be one hour. I hope you do indeed join us!
Joe, I look forward to the retreat and the webinar. I am hoping to get a copy of your newest book. The Catechist Toolbox was a valuable resource for me with my middle school classes.
I would like to join the online retreat in preparation for the year of Faith. Thank you for offering it. I have shared this on Facebook to the group Religion Teachers in Malta
Thanks for sharing the news, Josephine! The retreat will take place in just a few weeks right here on my blog…no need to register or sign up…just check the blog each day for the latest retreat reflection!
kindly help me to prepare year of faith
Fr. Chittaranjan, let me know what kind of help you are looking for.
