Guided Reflection on the Celebration of Confirmation

Guided Reflection on the Celebration of Confirmation - dove next to text

It’s helpful to take some time after a celebration of Confirmation to reflect on the actions of the Rite and to help the newly confirmed recognize the graces experienced in the sacrament. At a gathering sometime soon after the Confirmation Mass, lead young people in a guided reflection to process their experience of the sacrament.

Prepare to share the reflection by reading it through ahead of time. During the session you may wish to use the script as is, or adapt it as you wish. When leading the reflection, play reflective music softly in the background to enhance the sense of prayerfulness. Be aware of your voice quality, your pacing, and the message. Adjust the pauses as you see the young people respond and as the Holy Spirit makes the pace clear to you.

You may also want to pray a Confirmation Novena with young people, such as the one available through the Confirmed in the Spirit program.
