Thanks to the folks who sent me some ideas about a student evaluation of the catechist. I’ve designed my own form which is based specifically on what we covered this year and on specific features of my sessions. Still, I’m sure that you can glean some ideas from this form to design one to fit your own needs. Your feedback and/or questions on the design and content of this form are welcome!

Inviting Students to Evaluate
One of the things I plan on doing this Monday evening is having the kids complete an evaluation of their experience with me this past year. I often did this when I was a high school religion teacher and I found the feedback very helpful. I’ll have to formulate some kind of an evaluation form for them to use…that is, unless someone out there already has one!!! If so, I’d love to see it if […]
Being a Catechist
Seven Discoveries I’ve Made in Reevaluating the Year’s Plan
About this time of year, we catechists might be feeling great about how the year is going or frustrated that things aren’t going as expected—probably a mix of both. Some of the answers were to reorganize, create permanent records, minister to families, and all the rest of what we do. At each parish, however, something else happened: the numbers of families joining the program grew; the number of families “coming home” to the Catholic Church grew. What was […]

Joe,
This is a great idea…God bless you…I plan on using this idea for my Confirmation class that we did with the high schoolers. Of course, our Confirmation is scheduled for Friday with the Bishop. We will see how many of our youth return on Sunday after Confirmation…:( Of course, I hope they all will and I will make enough copies for all 35 that are getting confirmed on Friday. Maybe I will give them to them at the reception and ask them to return them on Sunday. Thanks again, Jason.
Jason, congratulations on your students being confirmed! Let me know how it goes with the evaluation…best wishes!
